2. Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duration of Study<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 2 to 7 years, students may apply for two years of suspension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Credits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 A total of 18 credits<\/mark><\/strong> and the course titled “Dissertation” must be completed, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. Select 1 major<\/strong> (International Relations or Strategic Studies) with 3 courses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

B. Select 2 minors<\/strong> (International Relations, Strategic Studies, National Security and Defense Affairs, Chinese Military and Cross-Strait Relations, Regional Security and Global <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governance) with 2 courses each. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Course Selection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 Each semester, students may enroll in a maximum of 8 credits<\/mark><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 For doctoral programs in other departments and master’s programs in this department (excluding the in-service master’s programs), a maximum of 4 credits can be recognized as graduation credits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 When selecting courses from other departments or different academic systems, students are limited to one course<\/mark> per semester<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualification to Graduate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. Qualification Exam<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 Must completed 18 required credits<\/mark><\/strong> to apply<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 Application starts every October<\/strong> and March<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 Exam will be held every December<\/strong> and May<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 1 majoring<\/strong><\/mark>and1 minoring field<\/mark><\/strong>,the exam can be retake once<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B. Obtaining Ph.D. Candidacy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 Completion of the required 18 credits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 Passing the qualifying examination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 Submission of application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C. Dissertation Proposal Defense and Dissertation Oral Defense<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 It requires a public presentation and the approval of at least three review committee members.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\uff65 The review committee members are recommended by the advisor and are essentially the same members as those for the final doctoral dissertation defense. Only after passing the thesis outline review can one apply for the doctoral dissertation defense in the following semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
