三、博士生修畢23應修學分後(114學年度後入學新生須修畢18應修學分)，始得申請資格考試，考試內容包括主修及副修各1科。其餘規定如下：
1.資格考之申請時間為每年10月及3月，每年12月及5月擇日舉行考試；請檢附校內全年成績單及本所資格考申請表各1份進行申請。
2.資格考以70分為及格，不及格科目可於1年後申請重考，但不得更改考試領域，重考以1次為限。
3.資格考命題及進行方式為：
（1）考生選定主、副修領域之後，由其修習過的領域課程授課老師進行出題，每位老師共出2題，組成題庫供考生選擇。出題老師可以於考前提供書單，以利同學準備。
（2）主修及副修分別進行考試，每科3小時，各回答4題。考生應以紙本作答，考試期間不得使用書籍、網路資料或其他參考資料，亦不得使用個人電腦等電子設備。考試地點將另行通知。

3. Doctoral students are eligible to apply for the Qualifying Examination after completing 23 required credits. (Students admitted in Academic Year 2025 and thereafter are required to complete 18 required credits.) The Qualifying Examination consists of one major field and one minor field. Additional regulations are as follows:
A. Application Period and Examination Schedule
Applications are accepted annually in October and March, and the examinations are held on designated dates in December and May. Applicants must submit the following documents:
o One official Tamkang University transcript covering all completed coursework; and
o One completed Qualifying Examination Application Form.
B. Passing Requirements
A minimum score of 70 is required to pass each examination. Students who fail may apply to retake the failed examination after one year. The selected examination field may not be changed, and only one retake is permitted for each failed field.
C. Examination Format
o After selecting the major and minor examination fields, the faculty members who have taught courses in the respective fields will prepare the examination questions. Each faculty member will contribute two questions, forming a question pool from which candidates will answer the required questions. Faculty members may provide a recommended reading list before the examination to assist students in their preparation.
o The major and minor examinations are administered separately. Each examination lasts three hours, during which candidates must answer four questions. All answers must be handwritten. The examination is closed-book; the use of books, online resources, reference materials, personal computers, mobile phones, or any other electronic devices is strictly prohibited. The examination venue will be announced separately.
